Goals

Connect tasks and habits to a goal

Link tasks and habits to a goal so finishing them marks the goal as moved for that day — automatically.

A goal board shows where you’re going; linked tasks and habits are how you get there. When you finish something linked to a goal, Plannedo notes that the goal moved that day, so the evening question mostly answers itself.

  1. Open the task.
  2. Click + (Show more fields).
  3. Choose the goal under Goal.
  4. Save.

From the Inbox, use … → Goal. A new subtask starts with its parent’s goal.

Open the habit (the pencil, Habit settings) or create a new one, and pick the goal under Goal. Then Save habit.

Only active goals are offered. Completed and archived goals don’t appear in the pickers.

When you tick off a task or habit linked to a goal, that goal is marked Moved for the task’s or habit’s day. It works from anywhere you tick: Today, Week, Month, the Habits screen and the iPhone and Mac widgets.

  • Moved replaces a Thought or Not today you had picked for that day — you did move it, after all.
  • Unticking the task doesn’t take the Moved back. If you ticked something by mistake, clear the answer in the evening check-in.
  • Completed and archived goals aren’t marked.

On Today, a goal with linked work on the day’s list shows a dashed Moved? button. One tap records Moved without opening anything.

  • Under a task’s title, next to its time and list.
  • Under a habit’s title on the Habits screen, and next to its streak on Today.
  • On the Tasks screen, Filter tasks → Goal lists everything linked to one goal.

The Goals screen itself shows the board, not a list of linked tasks.
